Still Thinking Of Larry

Larry and I grew up together in Austin, Texas. We played baseball together through high school. After graduation in 1959, at the ages of 17, we enlisted in the Army on the "buddy plan" and eventually we were stationed together at Ft. Campbell, KY with the 101st Airborne Division. After three years, Larry re-enlisted and served his first tour in Vietnam as a Sgt. (1964-65). He again re-enlisted for OCS, and Special Forces. He was KIA shortly thereafter. I attended his funeral in Austin with several other high school buddies, and his burial at Ft. Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio. I often think of Larry remembering our days as close friends.

Thank You

Dear Lt Larry Williams, Thank you for your service as a Special Forces Qualified Tank Unit Commander. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. MLK birthday weekend just passed. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance, and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

To my brother

You were taken from me when I was only 8.
My son is is at the wall today to get a rubbing of your name for his 2 sons. Helping him brings back memories. I wasn’t old enough to tell you to your face how wonderful you were and that I was proud of you. I hope you feel that from my heart. Love you. Sissy
