Always a friend

Barry and I went to different high schools; but were always good friends. We by chance met in San Diego before shipping out and had a great time shooting pool and a few toast for good luck. I'll never forget getting the letter from my mom that Barry had been killed and I think of him often and the last time we were together.
Rest in peace and God Bless

My Fiend

Barry was a really good friend to many of us in childhood and as teenagers. He would lend you his car or give you his last dollar. I think about him selling women's shoes downtown which enabled him to meet girls. I think of him often.

A distant relative of the Brickey Family

Barry & Wayne are both names found in the Brickey side of my family tree, usually as middle names. I don't see this young man but I will adopt him into my family until the connection is confirmed. I am convinced that it is somewhere. My family comes from the same geographical area and all of the males in that tree are or have been members of the military. The photo shows many similarities to other members of the family. Other relatives first names : Peter, 1819, Jonathan 1785, William, 1864. Even if the connection is to distant to find Barry will be remembered in the genealogy notes of my records. Perhaps at some time in the future there will be new information and the link found. The likeness to this Marine to other Brickey's I know is strong.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear LCPL Barry Wayne Brickey, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
