Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. That you died after you were schedule to return home is heart-breaking. As long as you are remembered you will remain in our hearts forever.

Dear Cap Harry Whetzel, Thank you for your service as a Rotary Wing Aviation Unit Commander - Helicopter Pilot. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It's the last week of Advent, and Christmas is soon. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance, and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

CPAT Harry Thomas Whetzel was survived by his wife and a daughter. He was due to come home on September 29, 1966, but volunteered for his final mission. He attended the Ohio State University, and was a Korean War veteran as well.

Your sacrifice is not forgotten.
