THE WALL OF FACES

I,too,wore your bracelet and bring it with me each time I visit the Wall. You are an inspiration.

Back in the 70s, I sent away for a POW/MIA bracelet. The one I received bore the name of Capt John West. I still have that bracelet. I prayed for him and his family and I still do. The Vietnam Wall Experience came to the town where I live this weekend. I found Capt West's name and made a rubbing. It was moving to see the name on the wall that I have had in my mind for so long. And now to see his picture! Wow! What an experience. God bless the family of Capt John West.

I am the only son of John West, born April 1, 1970. I never got to meet my father, but he has always been a hero to me for what he did for our country, and what he gave of himself. What I know of him, I know from conversations with my mom, my aunts and uncles and my grandmother. He was a good man, a natural leader and a good husband.

He has two grandsons now, and we often talk about Grandpa John, and how he fought the bad guys. We will never get to meet him, but we will always remember him.

I never knew John Thomas West but as part of OPJC I adopted him and made a homepage for him. I am researching the individuals whose name are on the MD VV Memorial. If anyone has any info Mr. West or other Marylanders, please contact me.
