honoring you.....
Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. You died at 18 years of age. I am 75 and have lived a long and fulfilling life. It is tragic you never had that same opportunity. May you rest in eternal peace.

Ground Casualty
LCPL James W. Washkuhn served as a clerk with Force Logistic Support Unit 2, 3rd Service Battalion, Force Logistic Support Group ALPHA, Force Logistic Command. Working in a rear echelon capacity did not preclude handling weapons as part of their daily routine since many clerks, cooks, and others with administrative and supply duties participated in providing security on the perimeters of where they were based. On November 8, 1966, LCPL Washkuhn was killed in the vicinity of Khe Sahn, RVN, as the result of an accidental discharge of an M-14 rifle. While occupying a bunker position, he sustained a gunshot wound to the head when he grabbed another Marines' rifle which discharged, striking him behind the right ear.
