Remembering An American Hero
Dear LCPL Paul Joseph Braun, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter

Best friend ever
I remember Paul as the best friend I ever had. I met him in 3rd grade when he moved to Milford from Bridgeport. I invited him to "play" after his first day of school. We became best buddies, and remained that way until he moved to a new school four years later. I've never had a better friend in the 45 years since. My son is named after him. Paul lived directly across the street from Richard "Dickie" Conklin, who also gave his life in Viet Nam. Some of my happiest memories are doing "guy things" with Paul and Dickie. I thank God for the provilege of having known them.
Paul was elected the first 8th grade presidnet of the new Orchard Hills grade school. That same year, I was elected President of my eighth grade class at Point Beach School. I understand there is a plaque at the base of the flag pole at OHS in memory of Paul's sacrifice.
