gratitude

my father was one of the men Frank O Vavrin wrote about that was also wounded in that attack. as I remember my father telling it, he was already wounded and Frank picked him up and was helping him to safety when they were hit with the mortar/grenade that killed him.

he is a hero and I might not be here today were it not for him.

If I should die...remembrances for CAPT. Frank Neal VAVRIN, USA...who made the ultimate sacrifice!!!

If I should die, and leave you here awhile, be not like others, sore undone, who keep long vigils by the silent dust, and weep...for MY sake, turn again to life, and smile...Nerving thy heart, and trembling hand to do something to comfort other hearts than thine...Complete these dear, unfinished tasks of mine...and I, perchance, may therein comfortm you.
