MIA bracelet
I, too, purchased a bracelet, in high school, during the 1970s. I never removed that bracelet until our troops came home. I have shared it with my grandchildren, do that when I’m gone, they will know how much it meant to me.
I learned about what happened to John, back in the early 1990s when internet was growing, and the public could access the Library of Congress. A few years ago, I was planning to send the memorial etching and bracelet to his family; however, someone recommended I wait—the family had just learned that his death was confirmed.
I was so honored to be a part of such a bigger thing back in the 70s.
Wherever you are, thank you, John, for your service.

Thank you
Dear Captain , glancing through I noticed we shared the same birthday. I was born on the day you turned 20. I too am an Illinoisan, Decatur, about 180 miles from Harrisburg. I have 2 brothers who were Air Force officers, I was an enlisted grunt, serving only in peacetime. I sacrificed only time. Not only did you give time but you gave your life for the country I love. Thank you Capt. Rest eternally where there is no war. You deserve nothing less.

An honor
As a young student nurse, I wore a POW/MIA bracelet with his name on it. I have thought of him often through the years. I came across the bracelet a few days ago, and decided to try to find out what happened to him. It was an honor to wear his name.

My hero
When I was in high school (class of ‘71, Roanoke, Va) I wore a POW bracelet with his name on it. Twice I have visited the wall, collapsed in tears at the sight of his name. I finally now have his face. My heart is full. Jan

memory bracelet
I had purchased a memory bracelet when I was in high school in the 70s. My husband is a marine. We were talking about our family's setvice and I still have my bracelet with the name of captain john c towle 4.22.70. So I did a search and found all this information. I am touched. So honored that he served and in my heart all these years.
