A good man
My Daddy served under Captain Titus from August 1966 - January 1967. Captain Titus was the only person that my Daddy served with that he ever called by his real name. A few memories that my father spoke about Captain Titus was that he made sure that everyone had a whole carton of cigarettes for Christmas, which was a very big deal to my dad. My Daddy was shot January 22, 1967 and he said that Capt. Titus came and visited him at the 85 Evac Hospital. My dad had severe lower jaw amputation from small arms fire and could not talk with his Captain and had no idea of how many days he had been in the hospital. Daddy was very surprised that he come to see him and thought a lot of this man. As my Daddy was flying to Tripler Hospital in Hawaii he learned of the death of the Captain - he said that he was one of the best!
