Thank You
Dear Sgt Willie Thigpen, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman with the 1st Cavalry. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Independence Day just passed. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it still needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Shorty Thigpen was the best soldier there ever was.
whenever I hear the words of the "Unknown Soldier" in Washington, I always think of Shorty. I was the company
clerk and I told Shorty when he came into the rear for a break, Ì told him he didn't have to go back out to the
jungle. That his time was up.
I could send him to Thailand
or Sidney, or just stay in the rear. He said no I want to go back out and be with his men
and he ķept insisting this. He only had a couple of weeks to go and he could have stayed back. No he wanted to go back out. He wasn't out there about a week and he was killed by a single shot to the forehead, a sniper got him. There wasn't any firefight or anything, just a single shot. Back in the states somebody tried to tell his family that he threw himself on a grenade to save others, but that wasn't true. It was just as I said. Everybody loved Shorty, he was a great guy. He didn't deserve to die.
If his family wants to call me they can. 956-249-9648_
