honoring you.....

War drew us from our homeland
In the sunlit springtime of our youth.
Those who did not come back alive remain
in perpetual springtime -- forever young --
And a part of them is with us always.

Thank You

Dear PFC Curtis Tarkington, Thank you for your service as an Airborne Qualified Infantryman. The 57th anniversary of the start of your tour just passed. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Independence Day is soon. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it still needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

My mother's cousin.

I was only a year old when you were taken from our family. I heard so many great stories that I felt like I grew up with you. From many of the things I've heard you were quite a jokester.
Rest in peace my cousin. Thank you for our freedom!

Memorial Day 2021

Curtis, we go to Agua Linda park almost daily to run our dog, and have passed your memorial plaque many times. On Memorial Day we went to the park with a brush and some water to clean the plaque, and were glad to see someone had already placed American flags around your tree. You may be gone, but you are not forgotten. Thank you so much for your service.
