Farewell Shipmate

We miss you Fred. Fred was a great shipmate with a heart of gold that was always there for everyone. The best shortstop that the Warbler ever had. It was our greatest award to serve with him. Farewell dear friend.

Do not stand at my grave and weep

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Fred Tapper

I worked with Fred on the U.S.S. Higbee DD806 from 1963 into 1966. I have a memory of a truly great guy, one who would give you the shirt off his back. I only recently found out that he had died in this conflict, after looking for him for many years. I shall remember him always. A true gentleman and a gentle person. Clinton H. Kammerer, formerly STG3 1962-1966 U.S. Navy
