I served with Larry

Larry and I served together in D Troop, 1-1 Cav in the Americal. Larry was a Cobra pilot, and he was a wonderful human being, always had a smile and a quick comeback that lightened the day. He loved his family and always spoke about his wife and new baby. Larry was with Tom Rosenow on a recon mission in the flat land west of Hawk Hill, maybe 10 or 15 miles north west of Tam Ky. They were attacking NVA troops in the open on a hot, dusty day, and taking fire. I heard the mission on the radio at our TOC on Hawk Hill, and heard the calls when their aircraft went in. I scrambled and was at the scene a few minutes later. There was little to do, the aircraft was spread across the dry paddies. We owe much to Larry and all the others who were lost in those difficult years. Nick Lappos

I Knew Larry's comrade on the crash that he died in.

Thank you for your service Larry. I went to High School with the pilot that you were with that fateful day, WO Thomas 'Tom' Rosenow of Cashton, Wisconsin. You guys were taken from us at such a young age. The people of Cashton remember your family's loss also. God bless.

In Honor

I went to flight school with Larry Talley. We were both Cobra pilots in D Troop 1/1 Cav in 1969. On this Memorial Day I wanted to reflect on and honor his service to our country.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear WO Larry James Talley, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
