If I should die...remembrances for MAJ. Robert Euhene ST.PETER, USA...who died for our country!!!!!!

If I should die, and leave you here awhile, be not like others, sore undone, who keep long vigils by the silent dust, and weep...for MY sake, turn again to life, and smile...Nerving thy heart, and trembling hand to do something to comfort other hearts than thine...Complete these dear, unfinished tasks of mine...and I, perchance, may therein comfort you.

A good American who gave his life for his country.

Bob St Peter was a close friend of mine. He was senior to me and I always sought his guidance and friendship. I had a successful military career largely motivated by his encourgement. My son is named after Bob. Bob died leading a flight of 2 helicopters east of Ah Khe. I returned from a field operation intending the next day to go to Bangkok with Bob for 2 weeks of leave. Instead I attended the memorial service for my friend. Bob was a career Army officer that this nation should be proud of, for he was not a warrior, he was a caring citizen. He loved his country and followed it's leaders without question. Bob brought to the Army a set of midwest values shaped by a love of his country. He put his life at risk in the belief of our ideals. Bob was a loving patriot and a damn fine man. Heaven is enriched by his presance. Lastly, for any family member, I have detail rememberances of his time in Viet Nam that I would be willing to share.
