Thank You

Dear Cap. Armand Sylvestre, Thank you for your service with the 15th Medical Battalion, 1st Cavalry. Thank you for the lives you saved. I researched you on the 54th anniversary of the start of your tour. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Another summer is soon. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Ground Casualty

CPT Armand A. Sylvestre and SGT Norman K. Doud were assigned to Headquarters & Service Company, 15th Medical Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. In the summer of 1968, the 1st Cavalry Division Headquarters, the Support Command, and the 15th Medical Battalion and its Air Ambulance Platoon were located at Camp Evans, a former Marine camp northwest of Hue in Thua Thien Province, RVN. Sylvestre was in charge of the mental health clinic on the base and Doud worked as mental health counselor. On July 15, 1968, a military vehicle crashed into the tent Sylvestre and Doud occupied at Camp Evans. Both men suffered fatal injuries in the incident. [Taken from coffeltdatabase.org]
