I Knew Richie from First Grade

We went to first grade together in what became the Brookside Union Hall while we watched them build Brookside Elementary across the street. We flipped upside-down out of swings, watched the dirigibles heading for Lakehurst and shared army blankets at nap time. We caught frogs in the creek in back of his house and sent them up on helium balloons as frog-o-nauts. At the Mayfair in 6th grade, we both threw the softball exactly 152 feet. In high school, we double-dated, got smashed out on creek road and shot pool in his basement while Scott bugged us constantly. I was on a helicopter carrier in Vietnam when Richie was killed and didn't find out until I returned. He was my good life-long friend and will never be forgotten.

Always Remembered.........Never Forgotten!

The holidays are quickly coming and it still seems empty without your quick wit and smile to make us laugh. Our family is one of many, who will always feel the pain of that empty seat, never to be filled by your presence.
Your birthday is coming as well, you'd be 62, somehow that doesn't seem quite right. In my mind you'll always be 20, young, fibrant, filled with hopes and dreams and a wonderful life ahead of you. Mom and Dad always wanted the best for each of us, you gave them so much joy and to all who knew you. Sleep in Heavenly peace Richie we love and miss you so
