honoring you....

Thank you for your service to our country so long ago sir. While all deaths in Vietnam are tragic that you just one day before your 21st died birthday is especially so. May you rest in eternal peace.

Dear CPL. Allen Sheffield Stroud.
I never had the privilege of meeting you, Sir, but we share a unique distinction in that we were both born on the exact same day, June 18, 1947.

Remembering a high school friend

I am a Vietnam veteran; having served with the 11ACR from august 1966-July 1967. I was back home before my friend left for Vietnam. Another High School class mate saw Allen in his dress uniform in April prior to him leaving. Clyde Watson said that he just told Allen to keep low to the ground and stay calm. I have been going to the Vietnam wall for well over 30 years and always sketch Allen’s name. Allen was a great friend and as proud as he was to wear the uniform, I’m sure that he fought gallantly to the bitter end. You are my hero my friend. I am 76 years old and continue to have adjustment problems. It’s almost like a part of me was left in the same god forsaken highland jungles that Allen drew his last breath

A boyhood friend

Brother, Sheffield when I came to the farm many years ago. There was my uncle Buck and you always playing tricks on me. But I have missed those years. And brother you have been missed. I went into the Air Force years later and stayed there for 20 years. Thank you Cpl Allen for serving your country well. I hope to see you again in heaven. James Stanley Utley
