Doulas Strait

I wore his MIA bracelet. I found out in September of 2001 that Douglas was listed on the Wall. To this day I still have his MIA bracelet. I am glad to have closure, however, I am saddened to hear of his death. My heart goes out to his family and we thank him for his bravery and sacrifice.

I have a mia/pow bracelet with his name on it, if any
of his family is interested in having it.

I never met Douglas Strait, but I feel I know him so very well. I am a veteran of the Vietnam era myself, being a Navy Wave during that time. I lost way too many special friends during this war.

I met Douglas Strait when I purchased a POW bracelet. This was in late 1970. Since that time, I have done all of the research I could to find out about Douglas. What I do know is that he was a door gunner and has been missing in action since 10-18-70. His bracelet is still on my arm. Everything I have done in the last 29 years has been done with thoughts of him. Life is so very precious and Douglas keeps me from losing sight of that.

There have been times when I gave the bracelet to my son to wear. We take turns. It is an honor to do so.

My one wish for quite a while has been to locate his family if they still live, or his siblings, if any, and let them know that I have his bracelet and have cared for their loved one for all of these years. However, every time I try to get a phone number or something to accomplish this I run into a dead end. Could whoever reviews this remembrance of Douglas Strait see if they can find out if he has family, give the family a call and let them get in touch with me if they wish to have Doug's bracelet. I would also appreciate seeing a photograph of Douglas as I know not what he looked like, what he liked to do, etc. My e-mail address is [email protected] which is in Roseburg, Oregon. Please contact me if you can help me with this as it would be nice to get Douglas back to his loved ones. Thank you.
