A rememberance

George Leander Bourne, my HN (E3).
The horror, pain, heartache
Of a crazy jungle war
Gone mad.
The young innocent men
With dreams and futures
Yet to fulfill.
Their lives, at ages of 22,
Just like yours.
It was an invisible knife-
Turning gouging holes into my stomach.
For loves ones awaiting
Vietnam was hell
The not involved-
Removed the war from history
No one was brave enough
To face a reality
Of a nation at war.
I loved you,
And when news returned that you had died
In Noch Tre, South Vietnam, on August 7, 1969,
It became the final blow of the knife
Leaving a gaping wound
Never to be mended.
A wall, who knew;
Stitched my heart-
Let me face the reality
That you were gone,
Bacause a nation wouldn't face it.
A wound it closed
But a scar it left
Of your love and mine
On my heart
Yearning to turn back time.
