Gone but not forgotten

I bought my POW bracelet with babysitting money and prayed for Jon Sparks for many years. Recently, I found his name on the Vietnam Memorial Wall and it brought back a flood of memories. To his family: He is not forgotten. Rose DeFer, Arizona (My father-in-law Richard H. DeFer was KIA in Vietnam)

Thoughts

I was a young buck sgt. in D Co., 7th SFG, Ft. Bragg in late 71 when I selected a remembrance bracelet with WO1 Jon Sparks name. Now 48 years later, Chief Sparks you are not forgotten.

CW2 Jon Starks

Today I was cleaning out my attic and saw a little plastic yellow box in the insulation. In that box was my bracelet I wore from 1971 until I married in1986. I thought it got misplaced in my parents house but never forgot his rank and name. I was elated that I found it and started to cry. I was even more saddened to find out that he was MIA. I was hoping to find out that he is doing well and I would be able to contact him and thank him for his service. My condolences to his family.y

Still wearing it today

I put on his bracelet after I got out of the Army and joined the Air Force. Must have been in about '73 or '74 time frame. Have never taken it off. Have been through five bracelets until I got a stainless steel one, not going to wear it out. I was from Montana and he was as close as I could get to home, and was a helicopter pilot and was lost in Laos or Cambodia. I was with the 57th AHC flying CCC folks out of Kontum into Cambodia and Laos. I am afraid I will take mine to my grave with me.

Found my bracelete today, 4/16/2018

I also wore Jon Sparks bracelete. We were going through my Mothers things and we found all five of our braceletes. As soon as I saw the name Jon Sparks I knew which one was mine. I wore it so much it is cracked and looks like it might break. I think I will get it fixed. I was a young teen when I received it. I often wondered about Jon and his family. I was praying that when I started my search today I would find a happy ending. Still praying for Jon and his family. Rene'Lowe Texas
