Thank You

Dear Sp4 George Spangler, Thank you for your service as an Armor Reconnaissance Specialist. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is Good Friday , and Passover . Time moves quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Spooly

My wife just got back from DC with 5 friends and visited the Viet Nam memorial among other things. I told her about my friend George whose name was on the wall. We went to Horace Mann Jr. High and REL High School together. His friends called him Spooly. In the late '50's there was a product sole on TV called spoolies, that was a small rubber item you could twist your hair around to make curls. George had naturally curly hair so we called him Spooly. My memory of George was he had bright eyes with a big smile like he was always glad to see you. I think the world would be a better place if George had lived.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 George Owen Spangler, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter
