Thank You
Dear Sp4 David Solis, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman with the 1st Cavalry. Your 73rd birthday just passed, happy birthday, and I researched you on your 52nd anniversary, sad. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is Spring , and Lent. Time moves quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Brother
You are missed! I went to school with David. When I went into the USMC David bought my 64 GTO. He was one of the "good guys". I will never forget David Tobias Solis

If only . . .
I met David when we were seminarians, with the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, and high school sophomores. We lost touch for several years, but never could have imagined how I would learn of his death. I was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division, HHC 15th Admin Company. Easter Sunday 1970, I was Officer of the Day and had to retrieve casualty reports for the weekend and, as I perused casualty reports and noted casualties on individual records when I came upon David Solis, my first thought was "no, probably someone with a similar name." Within seconds I matched the name with the personnel file. To this day, I wished that I would have know that David was in country! On a positive note, my eldest son, Carlos, was born March 26, 1974. Rest in Peace, Brother.

My best friend in "Nam
Before he was killed serving in the 1st Cav, he was in C Co, 2nd Bn, 18th Inf, 1st Inf Div. We served together after flying to 'Nam on the same flight, in seats next to each other. We wound up in the same unit, same squad. I was his "Shake-N-Bake" squad leader. He was my 60 gunner. He was my best friend. I miss him every day. To David, Love ya man. Sarge
