Remembered

DEAR CORPORAL BOSSMAM,
THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE AS AN AIRBORNE QUALIFIED MEDICAL NCO, THANKS FOR THE LIVES YOU SAVED. TODAY IS THE 42ND ANNIVERSARY OF PRESIDENT FORD CALLING THIS DAY THE OFFICIAL END TO THE WAR. IF IT WAS ONLY THAT EASY. I AM SO SORRY. IT HAS BEEN FAR TOO LONG FOR ALL OF YOU TO HAVE BEEN GONE. WE APPRECIATE ALL YOU HAVE DONE, AND YOUR SACRIFICE. WATCH OVER THE U.S.A., IT STILL NEEDS YOUR COURAGE. GOD BLESS YOU. MAY THE ANGELS BE AT YOUR SIDE. REST IN PEACE. YOU ARE ALL IN OUR PRAYERS.

Our brother, John

Dear John, Our family was so split on whether you should go to war or not, however, once you were deployed you were devoted to protecting your buddies. We all loved you so much and were shocked but resigned when we received your final letter saying that you had re-upped for another term. You didn't get that chance but we understood then the level of your compassion. We continue to love you and miss you.

A brother Remembered

John was so devoted to his Army "buddies" that he had signed up for a longer time there. When he was home for our father's death in March of 69 he spoke with great feeling and sadness about his time in Vietnam. He struggled with his hatred of war and his care for his fellow soldiers. He had nightmares when he was home but worried the whole time about how the rest of the guys were doing. I still see him in the vets that I talk with in the course of a day. We all need to do whatever we can for John's "buddies".
