We had a Navy Corpsman who was with Golf Co. 2/9 on hill 1179 who was KIA on that date 2/5/68 I don't know if this is the same person, but he died a Hero!

Classmate!

Vernon was my high school classmate (1964 Manual Arts H.S. Los Angeles, Ca) and friend. This last week was the first I knew of his passing. To my knowledge, he is our only classmate to have died in Vietnam. I was an Army draftee in 1970 but did not serve in Vietnam.

Vernon Smith was a 1964 graduate of Manual Arts High School, Los Angeles CA. He was survived by his mother, Armistice Williams, his father, Charles V. Smith, grandmother Lucy Penross, and his sister Constance.
