Well my intentions were good when I wanted to return to country to see how things were after 50 years but it's just too painful. It's in my head though what it was like. I really miss you my old friend. I will see you one day.

Dear Sp5 Thomas Smith, Thank you for your service as an Armor Crewman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Spring has begun, and it's Lent. Time moves quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Thomas's name is on the wall of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Ft. Worth, Texas among the names of those parishioners who served in war, and those who fell.

He was killed by an RPG in Tay Ninh. He spent most of time attached to the 25th Infantry Division in the Ho Bo Woods, Boloi, and Michelin. Operation Barking Sands.
