Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice

Lyle,
As a young man, I remember our rural farm community was stunned to learn of your death in Vietnam. It was especially attention-getting to those of us who assumed we were next in line to serve. Ultimately, the war ended and the draft was abolished before it was my turn to register. My thoughts turned to completing high school and moving on to college, but I have never forgotten brave men, like you, who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend the freedoms we enjoy today. Thank you for your service and rest in peace, knowing you allowed others to live the way you would have wanted to. You are not forgotten.
