I was with Cliff when we were originally wounded on July 13th, 1967. There were 7 of us wounded that night. Cliff and I were best friends serving with the 25th Infantry Division. We were with each other every day. We went together on a three day Rest and Recouperation to Vung Tau on the South China Sea. After we were wounded, I was in a hospital bed across from Cliff. I had talked to him every day since we were shot. We had actually laughed because we knew our time in that Hell Hole was finally over. I didn't realize at the time what it would mean to each of us by being over, ( his death and my living and transfered home ). I spoke to Cliff on the 17th of July, just one hour before he passed away. It was and still is one of the most darkest days of my life. I forever will miss my friend.

You are getting weaker, and it looks bad,
Now that you are dead, somehow
The last breath of your life was very sad.

It was a very horrible sight,
You thought it was not fun,
To go out there and fight,
When you guys won!
