Through the Eyes of a Soldiers Unborn Child

Thirty eight years have passed since you stroll
I know it was a situation you had no control.
I am that grown unborn child you left many years before
but only god knew what was in store.
Our country called on you to serve
After 4 short months the lord gave you the rest you deserve.
Fire, grenades, guns and war
The life of your unborn child you gave yours for.

You were taken from me before I cried
Mom told me the story like she was the guide.
For many years I did not question why
but I still did not understand but swore I would try.

Pictures and stories is all I ever had
no memory of you has made my life so sad.
Never heard your voice or touched your skin
But I know in my heart you died for this country’s sin.

I Thank god for my grandfather who helped me grow
he was the one person who never said no.
He was the backbone of my young childhood life
maybe because he as well was sadden by the death of his young wife.

He had the heart of a Saint and the knowledge of a king
I would crawl on his lap and begin to sing.
I was known to all as Pappy’s little girl
I ‘d look up at him and he would be glowing like a pearl.

He to has since passed
Life seems to be moving to damn fast.
Along with the memories comes laughs and tears
sometimes out pop those hidden fears.

Life has been good to me in a strange kind of way,
just look in the eyes of this soldiers unborn child,
and you to will learn to take things day by day .
