Welcome

Your are welcome to attend the service. It is in Claremore at Woodlawn Cemetery, 310 S Nome Ave, Claremore, OK 74017. Its just off of Highway 20 (there are signs) just before you leave Claremore East of town.
Several people have said they would like to give the family their bracelets and we welcome that. We will make sure Larry gets one. We also have plans to have the service video taped and a photographer will be there. While its okay for you to video, you will have to talk with the military personnel before doing so. We planned to make sure Larry gets a copy of the video.

Information Please

I plan on attending the service to finally lay to rest my uncles big brother. Can someone please give directions or a address to the cemetery? I am coming to represent my cousin Larry and pay respect to a hero.

Would anyone be upset if I record the service to send to Larry since he can't attend (he lives in California).

Will there be anything at the airport when he arrives?

Last Question, If anyone has an extra bracelet I know my cousin would cherish it.

He deserves a hero's welcome!

After 51 years, COL Martin Ronald Scott is coming home and will be laid to rest in Claremore, OK.

My heart still aches for his family!

I became best friends with his brother, Bill, 2 years after he disappeared and still have one of the bracelets I wore for so many years.

I certainly hope Claremore and all Tulsa citizens give him a hero's welcome!!!

Pilot Missing In Vietnam War Accounted For

On August 18, 2017, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced Air Force Col. Martin R. Scott, missing from the Vietnam War, has now been accounted for.

On March 15, 1966, Scott was a member of Headquarters, 8th Tactical Fighter Wing, as the aircraft commander and wingman of a two-seater F-4C aircraft in a flight of two on an armed reconnaissance mission over northern Vietnam. The lead aircraft spotted two vehicles as the flight approached the target area and the pilot of Scott’s aircraft responded that he was going to strafe the trucks. The flight leader observed an explosion in the area of the target and immediately attempted to contact Scott’s aircraft. No parachutes or emergency signals were seen, and all attempts to contact Scott and his pilot were unsuccessful. An organized search was not possible due to hostilities in the area. Scott was subsequently declared missing in action.

Interment services are pending; a formal notification will be released 7-10 days prior to scheduled funeral services.

Scott's name is recorded on the Walls of the Missing at an American Battle Monuments Commission site along with the others who are missing from the Vietnam War. A rosette will be placed next to his name to indicate he has been accounted for.

Bracelet

I wore the Col's (then Maj) bracelet for many years when in high school, until I joined the USAF. Also a Viet Vet. I am going to try and attend the funeral. Have followed this site for too long, when I saw the 'happy' news that he was finally coming home. I would like to give the bracelet to the family if it is wanted. If any family member is out there, please let me know. I'll be in my Am Legion Honor Guard uniform when I come.
