Thank You
Dear WO Herbert Scott, Thank you for your service as an Utility & Light Cargo Single Rotor Helicopter Pilot. The 54th anniversary of the start of your tour is in 5 days. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Memorial Day Remembering
I am sad to say I thought I had but, have not commented here earlier. For the family, the news article from Sgt. O'Donnell's page is in error. We picked up both Scott and O'Donnell the day of the incident. I witnessed the crash and it was my bird that took them to graves registration. I can tell you, it was an instantaneous event and they did not suffer.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear WO Herbert William Scott III, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

Sweet Memories
In the fall of 1965 I was starting college. The first week of school I attended a freshman mixer and the first guy to ask me to dance was Bill. We chatted briefly and he told me his sister, Sue, was also a freshman and living in the same dorm as I was. I don't remember seeing Bill again, but Sue and I eventually met and went on to be sorority sisters and good friends. Bill had joined the military and Sue and I were roommates when she got the tragic call from her parents. Suddenly the war was very close to all of us. I'll always remember Bill as a handsome young man with an outgoing personality.
