Thank You

Dear Sp4 Joseph Schmich, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. I researched you on your 74th birthday, happy birthday. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Today is the first day of winter and is Christmas is soon. Time moves quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

High School

I spent 3 years at O'Fallon Tech High School with Joe. We were in the Architechural Drafting class. He was always funny. I remember the day my grandmohr asked me if I knew Joe, after reading about his death in the paper. Such a waste of a good young man. Proud of knowing Joe.

Dusty

I knew him as Dusty. That was what everyone called him. I went to grade school with him. He was my Cub Scout Den leader. He was very devoted to scouting. I was at Camp Pendleton in infantry training getting ready to go to Vietnam when my Mom wrote to me and told me Dusty got killed. That was a very sad feeling for me because he was one of the first people I knew who had died in Vietnam. I'm glad his photo is up now.
