Dear PFC John Saunders, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Your 74th birthday just passed, happy birthday. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is the 2nd week of Advent. Time moves quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

I loved you more than you would ever know, but it would not be. Strange thing, but when my husband was stationed in Yokosuka, I always exited the base hospital by the back. I would walk right by the mortuary. My baby was due Sept 27. You died on Sept 24. I’m sure I must have walked by you. I wish I could have told you goodbye and touched your hand one last time. I go see you at the cemetery often. I left my class ring under the flowers many years ago. We sure had a lot of fun the night we called the fire department on the senior class while they were burning that old dead tree. I still hear about that. Your sister and I are good friends. She gave me the picture that I’ll try to post here. No one could ever have loved you as much as I did and still do. I hate that you went through that, but knowing you, you would have done your best.
