Colonel Donald M. Russell

His is the only name I wore on my POW/MIA bracelet. I got my first one as a Jr in High School (1972) and wore it until it broke in half. I contacted the group that I obtained it from and requested that I get the same name, if it was possible. I'm not sure how difficult it was for them to do that, but within a short period of time, my replacement bracelet came with Colonel Russell's name on it. I wore that bracelet into my late twenties. Fast forward about 15 more years and my daughter, while on a school trip to DC, took my bracelet and left it at the wall and brought home to me, the rubbing of his name. I still have it. I am an Army brat and my 94 year old Veteran served two tours in Vietnam. My greatest fears as a child are what Colonel Russell's family have endured. My ultimate respect and condolences go to the family left to go forward, and my undying gratitude to Colonel Russell for his service is forever.

In Remembrance

I wore this bracelet for many years to the point of breaking, then replaced it with another in his name, even further wearing it for many more years. My now 40 y/o daughter, was given the honor of leaving my bracelet at The Wall, while on a school trip with her high school. She returned with the rubbing that I still have. My father is retired Army, so patriotism runs deep in our family.
I thank this man for his bravery and service and hold his family in my heart, thanking them for their sacrifice.
