we will remember

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Thank You

Dear Sp4 Paul Rudy, Thank you for your service as a Radio Operator. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Halloween is next weekend. Time moves quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage, guidance and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 Paul Charles Rudy, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

I remember him every day.

I was in Headquarters Battery orderly room that Sunday morning when I saw 2 men running from the direction of the observation tower toward Battalion HQ. They had gone to breakfast a little earlier and when they had climbed back up to the tower they discovered Paul's body. He was sitting on the cot with his rifle between his legs. The investigation reported that he had taken the magazine out of his rifle and must have forgotten that he had chambered a round. Everyone who knew him knew it was a terrible accident. We knew he had a pilot's liscense and he was already talking about how he was going to fly around the country and see old friends. He and I had served at Ft Sill for a short time before heading to Nam. I remember Stafford, Thompson and Plenk. I have had a great life and become a senior citizen. The saddest part is that Rudy and too many others never got to experience that.
