Remembered

DEAR STAFF SERGEANT BOARD,
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AS AN INFANTRYMAN. IT HAS BEEN FAR TOO LONG FOR ALL OF YOU TO HAVE BEEN GONE. WE APPRECIATE ALL YOU HAVE DONE, AND YOUR SACRIFICE. WATCH OVER THE U.S.A., IT STILL NEEDS YOUR COURAGE. GOD BLESS YOU. MAY THE ANGELS BE AT YOUR SIDE. REST IN PEACE. MANY OF US HAVE BEGUN OUR JOURNEY TO EASTER. AND YOU ARE ALL IN OUR PRAYERS. IT IS HOLY THURSDAY, AND PASSOVER - GOD'S BLESSINGS ON YOU.

Missing You

Uncle Steve, I was a toddler when you died so I don't remember you but I want you to know dad and I talk of you often. I wonder what you would look like now, what kind of person you would be. I wish I could remember you but I love you.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SSGT Stephen Douglas Board, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

Sunday Morning's

I remember like it was yesterday. Every Sunday morning when I was growing up, I would see Steve across the street. First he would read the Sunday newspaper. Then he would spend the remainder of the morning washing and waxing his green VW Beetle. He took such good care of it, and he was so proud of his VW. It was the cleanest, shinest car I had ever seen.
I think of Steve often. Everytime I see a VW Beetle, everytime someone talks about Vietnam. I think about him. I will always remember how he, Ralph and "Pete" were my "big brothers" and helped me experience life growing up in West Virginia.
We all miss you Steve, and we are better people for having known you. Thanks for sharing yourself with us.
