My first love

I miss you even to this day and still have all the letters you sent me while you were in Vietnam. Especially the one where you asked me to marry you when you got home. I remember the fun times we had and sneaking around so my dad didn't see us together. Would have been proud to be Mrs. Charles Akins.

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 Charles James Akins, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

My father I never got to know

I wish I could have had the opportunity to know you. I've seen pictures and spoken to your sister. I too served our country in Air Force for 20 years and oddly enough was also in the aircraft maintenance field. Although we never really knew one another I will never forget you. We will meet one day. Thank you for your service.
