HILL 174
They left my team on point all day long, instead of rotating the point every hour or two. Finally, late in the day, they put Tom's fire team on point. We walked up Hill 174 and into a series of NVA bunkers and Tom was killed. Every time that summer when we would get close to the hill we would tell new Marines that was where we lost Tom.
That Christmas his mother sent cookies to the platoon, a Christmas memory that still breaks my heart , even though it was 54 years ago.

Thank You
Dear PFC Thomas Ronald, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Today we celebrate Columbus Day. Time moves quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.
