RESPECT

I never new this gentleman, but in my eyes, he was a hero.

I would like to thank him, and tell his friends and family how proud I am of him, and offer my sincere condolences.

I was only a child when the Vietnam war took place, and I did not understand what war was, or why the public did not support our troops. I would like to apologize to every veteran for the grief that they had to deal with, not only for the misery that they went through overseas, but especially for the disrespect that they suffered after returning homeā€¦ if they were lucky enough to make it home alive.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing such a difficult task. I hope that all of you find peace one day, and I pray that society never turns its back on troops doing such a difficult job.

Remembering an American Hero

Dear 1LT Richard Leo Rogers, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for the ultimate sacrifice that you made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned. May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. And please know that men and women like you have stepped forward to defend our country yet again, showing the same love for country and their fellow Americans that you did- you would be proud.

With respect, and the best salute that a civilian can muster for you.

Curt Carter
