Sergeant Joe Raymond Roberts, Jr. was awarded the Silver Star Medal for his conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action. He served as an Infantryman and was assigned to C CO, 4TH BN, 9TH INFANTRY, 25TH INF DIV.
