We received a letter from Norm. Beautifully written. He was quoting Bob Dylan, Blowing in the wind. He was tired of wiping his bum with dry leaves. God Speed.

DEAR PFC BLASINGAME,
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE AS AN INFANTRYMAN. IT HAS BEEN FAR TOO LONG FOR ALL OF YOU TO HAVE BEEN GONE. WE APPRECIATE ALL YOU HAVE DONE, AND YOUR SACRIFICE. WATCH OVER THE U.S.A., IT STILL NEEDS YOUR COURAGE.. GOD BLESS YOU. MAY THE ANGELS BE AT YOUR SIDE. REST IN PEACE. MANY OF US HAVE BEGUN OUR JOURNEY TO EASTER. AND YOU ARE ALL IN OUR PRAYERS.

Dear PFC Norman Lee Blasingame, Sir:

So long ago. We were high school friends. You were my husband’s best friend. Wayne Lancaster and I made out in the back seat of your station wagon. You and Wayne spent many hours together just doing guy things. He felt lost when he heard you were Killed In Action. One of many Fallen Warriors. I’ll never let your friendship and love for Wayne be forgotten. Thank you for your service. You are truly one of God’s Warriors. Kae Lancaster, Widow

Old Friend

Many years have passed, but you have not been forgotten. When I am thanked for my service in Viet Nam I state that I will accept it in your name and I do pass on your name. You are not forgotten and will always be remembered as long as I live. Many memories of taking BASIC TRAINING together and I was not far from you when you paid the ultimate price.
