ROBERT RENAUD- NEWS BOY

I REMEMBER KNOWING BOB BACK IN THE EARLY 60'S. WE WERE BOTH PAPER BOYS WHO DELIVERED THE PAWTUCKET TIMES OUT OF JACK McLAUGHLIN'S NEWS STORE ON MINERAL SPRING AVE IN PAWTUCKET,R.I.. WE DELIVERED IT SIX AFTERNOONS A WEEK FOR 7 CENTS A DAY. BOB WAS AN EASY GOING, SOCIABLE GUY. HE GOT ALONG WITH EVERYBODY. I CAN REMEMBER HIM JOKING AROUND AND MAKING THE OLDER WOMEN GRACE AND PEG LAUGH. THEY WORKED THE SODA FOUNTAIN. I FELT AWFUL WHEN I HEARD THAT HE WAS FATALLY WOUNDED IN VIETNAM. IT WAS RIGHT AFTER CHRISTMAS. I FELT BAD FOR HIM AND HIS FAMILY. EVERY SO OFTEN I THINK OF HIM AND I SAY A PRAYER FOR HIM. JOHN MONAGHAN

Gone but not forgotten

Bob, I served with you in B Co. 84th Engineers. I just met you there. I don't make friends easily, but you were easy to talk to. I had to identify your body that gruesome day. { hated that. I couldn't believe you and Ray were gone. I think of you often and pray for you every night since then. Rest in peace fellow comrade. Love always

Remembering An American Hero

Dear PFC Robert Wilfred Renaud, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter
