Remembering An American Hero

Dear HM3 Donald Keith Rahn, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, Sir

Curt Carter

Doc Rahn

Doc was our platoon Corpsman, I was the Radioman, we became good friends. He was like a big brother. He was fun loving, but so committed to his men. We were in different spots that day, separated by 10 foot tall grass. The gunfire and artillery blasts were ear and mind shattering. I did not know till several hours later when our CO told me we had lost him. I was in shock, numb from the news. A terrible nightmare. I think of him very often...miss him. His family and friends lost a hero that day. God bless him and his family.
