Memory of Edward John Rafferty

This morning I had breakfast with my usual group of friends at a Whataburger restaurant in Arlington, TX. One of the group was planning a trip to the northeast. Another member ask if he was going near Havertown, PA. He ask if he was near there if he might find the grave of Edward John Rafferty's grave. Then recounted the battle in which John and a Lt were shot in only a few feet from him.
I seen there was a member of that patrol posted on here several years ago. If anyone has information of the grave or would like to contact that member of his patrol, please contact me and I'll arrange a means of communication.

You are missed..,

Dear Uncle Eddie
You were gone before i was even born but even though we never met , I feel like I've gotten to know you through our family and from the friends on this page. You have been like a guardian angel to us especially my younger brother Frank. You passed away on the same date October 13th as his birthday but years apart. When Frank was about 3yrs old, he would lay at night with my mom at bedtime sharing stories and saying goodnight prayers. He would go on and on about his Guardian Angel and how his angel would talk to him and told him to pick my Mom and Dad as his parents because they would really love me. One day we were visiting my grandmom (your sister Eleanor and my dad Franks mom) and your niece (my aunt ) Karen. We were upstairs and Frank came into Karen's room and starting yanking on my moms leg and screaming " mom mom look there he is... It's my guardian angel ... There he is!!" Frank was pointing to a picture of your from Vietnam and your fatigues and rifle. We all stood there in shocked and my grandmom started to cry. From that point on, we knew you were always with us and looking over us especially my brother Frank. He proudly followed in your footsteps from a young age loving the military and GIJOE and then as an adult he joined the Army , went to Valley Forge Military College and graduated at Penn State. He did a tour in Iraq and retired as a Captain about 2yrs ago after 10yrs of serving our country. He has always had a special relationship with you in a spiritual way. We are just grateful for that because he served his country and came home safely to us.
We will never forget you and wish we could have met you. But knowing that someday we will! Until then... All of my love... You're great niece Dana.
Say hi to my Dad in heaven with you! Xoxo

Your girlfriend, Roseann

You are always in my heart, Ed. And, you will always be. It's been difficult to write a contact. You are not forgotten. We met each other at a dance. I don't know what else to say. Tears.
