Thank You
Dear PFC Harry Puckett, Thank you for your service as an Infantryman. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Independence Day is soon. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

Always in my thoughts
I was next to Harry the night he died. We had arrived at a stream at high tide. He had placed his equipment onto an air mattress, then followed a rope as he pushed the mattress to the other side of the stream. After unloading his equipment on the other bank he returned to give me the air mattress. I took the mattress and he turned to once again follow the rope across the stream. Almost instantly he slipped under the water and was gone. Several of us jumped into the water and furiously reached around in the dark waters. We called in luminescent rounds from the artillery. All was to no avail. Since that night Harry has never been far from me. I am so sorry for this loss to you.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear PFC Harry Lee Puckett, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
