Billy's hometown was actually Dyer, TN. He lived across the street from Dyer High School growing up. Mother's name was Marjorie if I remember correctly and he had a brother named Jimmy

An inspiration to all who knew him.
I was a doc with the 173rd Airborne in Tay Ninh when I had to inform our colonel that Bill had been k.i.a. With his typical courage and leadership he had taken point position on a patrol. He was hit by a sniper. Those who knew and respected Bill were devastated. I had known Bill for only 4 months prior to his death in Vietnam, but I have never forgotten his example of dedication and sacrifice.
