A dear friend
John was a friend and classmate of my brother, Reed Strawn, Jr., who had received his papers to go to Viet Nam, but was killed in an auto accident in our hometown, Idabel, OK on July 30, 1966, before he was to go to the horrible war. If I am not mistaken, he and John received their papers right around the same time. John will always and forever be remembered as a hero from Idabel, Oklahoma. John's sister, Gladys and I were friends until the day she died. All four of us grew up together in Idabel.
