A True Comrad in Arms

Assigned to spend the day in base camp, he chose to be among his comrades in the field and was among the first to fall, his infectious smile gone from us forever. He fell forty seven years ago this day, but memory of him is still clear.

In honor of Harvey "Buddy" Black

I served in Viet-nam with Harvey. We were close friends. I have a phot of us together shortly before his death. I was with him when he was killed, about 30 feet. I have tried to find family members, but, no luck so far...Never will forget you Harvey,,,Rest-In-Peace

Remembering An American Hero

Dear SP4 Harvey Black, sir

As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.

May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.

With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir

Curt Carter

Buddy Man

I did not know you, you died on my birthday, I was four years old, my mother said you were a good person, and that you liked to be called Buddy Man, I wish I could have known you.

Your Niece,

Delane Black
