Friend from Grayling High School
Jim
I was a classmate of your younger sister Jerry at Grayling High School. You were a junior or senior and we were 7th graders. I remember seeing you walking around the school. You were tall - about 6'5' as I remember and seemed even taller as I was much younger. You towered over us little guys.
After your graduation we got the news of your passing. You seemed much too young to be gone. It really brought the war up close and personal after hearing the news. I looked for your name on the Vietnam memorial when we were in Washington DC many years ago and couldn't find it. I am glad that we reconnected here.

Remembering
I have never seen two of these photos. I am so thankful to whoever posted them. I have been thinking of you all day today and remembering your birthday. I really miss you even though it.s been so long. It seems like only yesterday that we grew up together - taking care of the rest of the clan. I will always love you very much.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear SP4 James Evart Blaauw, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
