Thank You
Dear PFC Thomas Pool, Thank you for your service as a Personnel Clerk. Your 54th anniversary is this month, sad. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. Memorial Day just passed when our nation remembers your sacrifice. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

In Remembrance of PFC Thomas J. Pool
I served along side PFC Pool. We were in Alpha Company First Battalion Fifth Marines, First Marine Division. A - 1/5
We pretty much called each other by our last names back then
Tommy, as you called him , was always friendly and I never heard him say anything bad about anyone
We were all about 18 or 19 years of age at the time . The Battalion moved down to Chu Lai from the Da Nang area in the Central Highlands.
We were constantly in a combat zone moving from hill to hill
I called his parents in Texas to tell them how we liked Tommy and how it was a shame for him to lose his life in combat when I returned from Vietnam, but they were too upset to talk to me and hung up the phone. At least I tried to make contact with someone with the immediate family.
Every time I visit Washington D.C, I travel to the Vietnam Wall and look for Tommy's name and say a prayer
If , by chance , there is a family member who might read this post, please know that PFC Pool was an outstanding person, a great Marine, and will be missed.
I'll make an effort to go through my photos to see if I have any of Tommy and will try to post them to this web site..
At least I'll try.
