we will remember
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Thank You
Dear Cpl John Pearson, Thank you for your service as a Rifleman. I did the research on you on the 52nd anniversary of the start of your tour. Saying thank you isn't enough, but it is from the heart. It is the 2nd Sunday of Easter. Time passes quickly. Please watch over America, it stills needs your strength, courage and faithfulness, especially now. Rest in peace with the angels.

PFC John H. Pearson, USMC
Marine Corps Recruit Depot
San Diego, CA
Second Battalion
Platoon 2089
Commenced Training:
07 October 1968
Graduated:
04 December 1968
SSGT L.R. Sundvall - Platoon Commander
SSGT G.E. Mitchell - Drill Instructor
SGT R.W. Cataleta - Drill Instructor
PFC John H. Pearson was the only
member of Platoon 2089 to be KIA in Viet Nam.
Although listed as a CPL (Corporal) on the wall websites, John was a PFC (Private First Class) at the time of his death on his Report of Casualty (DD Form 1300). Having been in the Corps less than 1 year, obtaining CPL would be highly unlikely.

Remembering An American Hero
Dear CPL John Howard Pearson, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, and the best salute a civilian can muster for you, Sir
Curt Carter
